The Prowirl O 200 is particularly optimized for applications with high-pressure mating pipes, offering increased mechanical integrity and reliable measurement performance under demanding process conditions. The device can also combine flow measurement with integrated temperature and pressure measurement, providing more complete process information from a single measuring point. 

Vortex Flow Measurement for Steam, Gas and Liquids

Prowirl O 200 uses the vortex shedding principle to determine process flow. When the process medium passes a bluff body inside the measuring tube, vortices are generated at a frequency proportional to the flow velocity. The sensor detects these vortices and converts them into a flow measurement.

The technology is suitable for a wide range of process media, including:

Designed for High-Pressure Applications

The instrument supports pressure ratings up to PN 250, Class 1500 and 40K, making it suitable for demanding high-pressure steam, gas and liquid applications. 

The sensor design provides increased mechanical integrity, while the robust measuring tube and capacitive sensor help maintain stable operation over long periods.

High Measurement Performance

Prowirl O 200 provides a maximum measurement error of:


  • Liquid volume flow: ±0.75%

  • Steam and gas volume flow: ±1.00%

  • Liquid mass flow: ±0.85%

  • Saturated steam mass flow: up to ±1.5% with temperature and pressure compensation

  • Superheated steam and gas mass flow: up to ±1.5% with temperature and pressure compensation 

The flowmeter maintains the same accuracy down to a Reynolds number of 10,000, supported by its highly linear vortex meter body. 

Integrated Temperature and Pressure Measurement

A major advantage of the Prowirl O 200 is its ability to combine vortex flow measurement with integrated temperature and pressure measurement.

This is particularly valuable for steam and gas applications, where pressure and temperature are required to calculate compensated mass flow or corrected volume flow.

For example, in steam measurement applications, the integrated measurement functions can help determine mass flow under changing process conditions without requiring separate measurement devices for every process variable.

Wide Measuring Range

The Prowirl O 200 provides a wide measuring range for both liquid and gas/steam applications.

Depending on the medium and operating conditions, the specified measuring range extends up to:


  • Liquid: 0.2 to 1,895 m³/h

  • Steam and gas: 1.5 to 25,285 m³/h 

The standard medium temperature range is -40 to +260 °C, with an optional high/low temperature version extending from -200 to +400 °C. 

Robust, Drift-Free Capacitive Sensor

The Prowirl O 200 uses a robust drift-free capacitive sensor designed for long-term measurement stability.

The sensor construction is intended to provide reliable vortex detection even under demanding process conditions. This contributes to long-term measurement reliability while reducing the need for frequent maintenance.

The wetted measuring tube is manufactured from 1.4408 (CF3M), while the process connection is available in 1.4404 / F316 / F316L materials. 

NACE Compliance for Demanding Applications

For applications in the oil and gas industry and other environments where material resistance is important, Prowirl O 200 provides NACE MR0175/MR0103 compliance.

This makes the instrument suitable for selected high-pressure process applications where material requirements and mechanical integrity are critical. 

Heartbeat Technology for Verification

Prowirl O 200 incorporates Endress+Hauser Heartbeat Technology, providing integrated verification and diagnostic functions.

Heartbeat Technology allows users to verify the instrument's measurement performance without removing the flowmeter from the process. This can support preventive maintenance, measurement traceability and improved plant availability. 

Flexible Digital Communication

The transmitter provides flexible electrical and communication options, including Ethernet-based communication depending on the selected configuration.
