Endress+Hauser Proline Promass F 500 Coriolis Flowmeter

The Endress+Hauser Proline Promass F 500 is a high-performance remote Coriolis flowmeter designed for accurate measurement of liquids and gases under varying and demanding process conditions. It combines the proven Promass F sensor with a remotely installed transmitter, providing high measurement performance, flexible installation and extensive connectivity for modern process automation systems. 

Promass F 500 uses the Coriolis measuring principle to directly measure mass flow while simultaneously providing additional process variables such as density, temperature, volume flow and concentration. This multivariable capability can reduce the number of separate measurement points required in a process installation. 

Premium Accuracy for Liquid and Gas Measurement

Promass F 500 is designed for applications requiring high measurement accuracy and reliable performance.

Key measurement performance includes:


  • Liquid mass flow: ±0.10% standard, ±0.05% optional

  • Liquid volume flow: ±0.10%

  • Gas mass flow: ±0.25%

  • Liquid density: ±0.0005 g/cm³ 

With the optional PremiumCal capability, mass flow accuracy can reach ±0.05%, making Promass F 500 suitable for demanding industrial flow measurement applications. 

Remote Transmitter Design

A key feature of the Promass F 500 is its remote transmitter configuration.

The sensor and transmitter are connected by a standard cable, allowing the transmitter to be installed separately from the measuring point. This provides greater flexibility when the sensor is installed in locations with limited access or when the operating interface needs to be positioned away from the process piping.

The transmitter supports up to four freely configurable I/Os, together with a wide range of fieldbus and Ethernet communication options. 

Wide Measuring Range

Promass F 500 is available in nominal diameters from DN8 to DN250 (3/8 to 10"), making it suitable for both relatively small process lines and large-capacity flow measurement applications.

The maximum measuring range reaches 2,200,000 kg/h (80,840 lb/min). 

Robust Sensor for Demanding Process Conditions

The Promass F sensor is designed to maintain measurement performance under fluctuating and harsh process conditions.

Available wetted materials include:


  • 1.4539 / 904L stainless steel

  • 1.4404 / 316/316L stainless steel

  • Alloy C22 / 2.4602

Process connections are available in 316/316L stainless steel, Alloy C22 and F304, depending on configuration. 

This makes Promass F 500 suitable for a wide range of industrial fluids and demanding chemical and process applications.

Wide Temperature Range

Promass F 500 supports an unusually broad range of process temperatures.

Depending on configuration, the medium temperature range can extend from:


  • -196 to +150 °C

  • -50 to +150 °C standard

  • -50 to +240 °C

  • -50 to +350 °C high-temperature option

The high-temperature configuration up to +350 °C (662 °F) allows the flowmeter to address demanding high-temperature process applications.

High-Pressure Capability

The maximum process pressure reaches:

PN 100 / Class 600 / 63K

This makes Promass F 500 suitable for high-pressure process measurement where robust sensor construction and reliable measurement are required. 

Space-Saving Installation

Like other Coriolis flowmeters, Promass F 500 does not require conventional inlet and outlet straight pipe runs.

This provides greater flexibility when designing process piping and can help reduce the overall footprint of the flow measurement point. 

Flexible Connectivity and I/O

Promass F 500 provides extensive options for connecting the flowmeter to process control and automation systems.

The transmitter offers freely combinable I/Os and fieldbus interfaces, while the I/O functionality can be configured according to the application.
