Endress+Hauser FLOWSIC600-XT Ultrasonic Gas Flowmeter

The Endress+Hauser FLOWSIC600-XT is an advanced ultrasonic gas flowmeter designed for accurate and reliable custody transfer measurement of natural gas. It uses ultrasonic transit-time difference measurement to determine gas flow and provides measurement of actual volumetric flow, volume, gas velocity and speed of sound. An optional integrated electronic volume corrector (EVC) can also be used for volume correction.

FLOWSIC600-XT is designed for demanding gas measurement applications where measurement accuracy, long-term stability, diagnostic capability and measurement availability are critical. The meter is available with 4, 4+1, 4+4 and 8 measurement paths, allowing the configuration to be selected according to the application and required measurement performance. It meets OIML R 137 Class 0.5 requirements and complies with relevant international standards including ISO 17089-1 and AGA Report No. 9.

The FLOWSIC600-XT supports natural gas containing up to 30% hydrogen, as well as air and natural gases containing increased concentrations of CO₂, N₂, H₂S and O₂. This makes the ultrasonic flowmeter suitable for modern gas infrastructure where hydrogen blending and changing gas compositions are becoming increasingly important.

High-Accuracy Ultrasonic Gas Measurement

The FLOWSIC600-XT provides high measurement performance across a wide range of operating conditions. Depending on the configuration and calibration method, the 4-path and 8-path versions can achieve accuracy levels down to ±0.1% after flow calibration and polynomial or piecewise correction. Typical repeatability is ≤0.05% of the measured value.

The meter is available for nominal pipe sizes from DN80 to DN1400 (3 to 56 inches), with other sizes available on request. It supports operating pressures from 0 to 450 bar(g) and medium temperatures from -46 °C to +180 °C, with extended temperature ranges available for specific applications.

Intelligent Diagnostics and Reliable Operation

One of the key features of FLOWSIC600-XT is its i-diagnostics™ intelligent application diagnostics, which helps users monitor measurement performance and identify potential application or device-related issues. The system is designed to provide reliable measurement data and high measurement availability throughout operation.

The flowmeter also incorporates PowerIn Technology™, providing continuous measurement operation for up to three weeks in the event of a mains power failure. This feature helps maintain measurement availability in critical custody transfer and gas transportation applications.

Custody Transfer and Natural Gas Applications

FLOWSIC600-XT is particularly suitable for custody transfer natural gas measurement, where accurate and dependable flow measurement is essential for commercial gas transactions. Its application range also includes natural gas containing up to 30% H₂, gas transportation and storage, and onshore and offshore installations.

Typical applications include:

  • Custody transfer natural gas measurement

  • Natural gas transmission and distribution

  • Gas transportation and storage

  • Natural gas measurement with hydrogen blending
