Endress+Hauser FLOWSIC550 High Pressure Ultrasonic Gas Flowmeter

The Endress+Hauser FLOWSIC550 is a compact high-pressure ultrasonic gas flowmeter designed for accurate measurement of low-volume natural gas flows in gas distribution, storage and transmission systems. It uses the ultrasonic transit-time difference measurement principle to provide reliable gas flow measurement without mechanical moving parts, making it well suited for applications where long-term reliability and low maintenance are important.

FLOWSIC550 is specifically designed for high-pressure natural gas networks and can be used for custody transfer measurement, gas distribution, gas storage, transmission systems, town border stations and city gate stations. Its compact construction allows the meter to be integrated into existing gas measurement stations and provides a practical alternative to traditional turbine gas meters.

Accurate Measurement for High-Pressure Gas Networks

The FLOWSIC550 provides Accuracy Class 1 measurement and a repeatability of ≤0.1%. After high-pressure flow calibration, accuracy can reach ±0.2% at test pressure, supporting demanding natural gas measurement and billing applications. The instrument is designed to maintain reliable measurement performance even when gas flow fluctuates or operates in on/off conditions.

The flowmeter supports nominal pipe sizes from DN50 to DN150 (2" to 6"). Depending on the flange configuration, it can handle operating pressures up to 48.7 bar(g) with ANSI 300, 97.4 bar(g) with ANSI 600, 40 bar(g) with PN40, and 63 bar(g) with PN63 at temperatures from -40 °C to +70 °C.

Ultrasonic Measurement Without Moving Parts

Unlike mechanical turbine meters, FLOWSIC550 has no moving parts, reducing mechanical wear and helping minimize maintenance requirements. Its ultrasonic measurement technology provides reliable operation for continuous gas measurement and helps maintain measurement availability over the operating life of the instrument.

Integrated Volume Correction

FLOWSIC550 can measure actual volume, actual volumetric flow and gas velocity. With the integrated volume correction function, it can additionally provide standard-condition volume and standard-condition volumetric flow.

This integrated functionality can reduce the need for additional equipment and help simplify gas metering station installations while reducing installation costs.

Intelligent Diagnostics and Easy Commissioning

The FLOWSIC550 features permanent operational self-monitoring and intelligent diagnostics, helping operators monitor the condition of the meter and identify potential measurement issues.

Commissioning, configuration and data reading can be performed using FLOWgate™ software, while Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) provides convenient local access to device information. The meter can also operate with a battery or intrinsically safe power supply, supporting installations where an independent power supply is preferred.
