Endress+Hauser FLOWSIC100 Ultrasonic Gas Flowmeter

The Endress+Hauser FLOWSIC100 is an ultrasonic gas flowmeter designed for continuous emission monitoring and industrial stack gas measurement. It provides reliable measurement of gas volume flow under actual and standard conditions, making it an important measurement component for continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS) and industrial air pollution control applications.

Using the ultrasonic transit-time measurement principle, FLOWSIC100 measures gas velocity without mechanical moving parts. In addition to volume flow, the instrument can determine gas velocity, speed of sound and gas temperature, providing important process data for emission monitoring and exhaust gas measurement. The gas velocity measuring range is 0 to ±40 m/s.

Ultrasonic Flow Measurement for Emission Monitoring

Accurate gas flow measurement is an essential part of industrial emission monitoring because pollutant concentrations need to be evaluated together with the gas flow rate to determine reliable emission values. FLOWSIC100 provides continuous flow measurement for industrial exhaust and stack gases, helping operators obtain consistent flow data for emissions reporting and process monitoring.

The ultrasonic measurement principle eliminates mechanical moving parts and is therefore well suited to continuous operation in industrial environments. The system can measure both actual-condition and standard-condition volume flow, depending on the configured application.

Flexible Configurations for Different Stack Conditions

The FLOWSIC100 family includes different configurations designed for specific emission monitoring conditions. The FLOWSIC100 H versions are suitable for large-diameter stacks and applications with high dust concentrations. The PR probe versions use ultrasonic transducers mounted with a fixed path length on a single sender/receiver unit.

For high-temperature applications, the AC versions feature internal cooling and can be used for gas temperatures up to 450 °C. The purged Px versions are designed for gases containing high concentrations of sticky or wet dust, helping maintain reliable ultrasonic measurement under difficult stack conditions.

Reliable Measurement for Industrial Exhaust Gas

FLOWSIC100 is designed to support continuous monitoring in demanding industrial environments. Its application range covers emission monitoring tasks where gas flow information is required together with other emission parameters.

Typical measurement data include:

  • Actual-condition volume flow

  • Standard-condition volume flow

  • Gas velocity

  • Speed of sound

  • Gas temperature

These parameters can provide the flow measurement basis required by broader CEMS and environmental monitoring systems.

Applications

The Endress+Hauser FLOWSIC100 can be used for:

  • Continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS)

  • Industrial stack gas measurement

  • Exhaust gas flow measurement

  • Flue gas flow measurement

  • Air pollution monitoring

  • Industrial emission monitoring

  • Power plant emission monitoring

  • Large-diameter stack measurement
