Retractable Assembly for Corrosive & Aggressive Media
The Cleanfit CPA474 is specifically designed for process applications that demand safe, hermetic separation from the process and involve aggressive media that could attack or corrode conventional stainless steel assemblies. All components in direct contact with the process fluid are made of high-grade technical polymers (PP, PVDF, PEEK), ensuring maximum corrosion resistance.
Its retractable mechanism allows the sensor to transition smoothly between measuring position and service position without requiring the process to be interrupted, drained, or cooled down.
Safe Process Separation by Polymer Ball Valve
The CPA474 uses an integrated ball valve manufactured from chemical-resistant polymers. When the sensor is retracted into the rinse chamber for cleaning or calibration, the ball valve closes, providing an airtight, pressure-tight barrier against aggressive process fluids.
This ensures exceptional personnel safety and eliminates process leakage risks during routine maintenance in pressurized chemical pipelines and tanks.
Manual or Pneumatic Operation
The assembly is available with either manual lever operation or a pneumatic drive system:
- Manual Version: Simple, rugged, and ideal for installations with periodic sensor inspection.
- Pneumatic Version: Designed for automated operations. When connected to automated cleaning and calibration systems like Topcal S CPC310 or Liquiline Control CDC90, sensor flushing and calibration occur automatically on predefined cycles.
Built-in Rinse Chamber for Automated Cleaning
The integrated rinse chamber with G1/4" or NPT 1/4" connections allows chemical cleaning agents or water flushing to clean the electrode and valve cavity before the sensor is removed from service.

Typical Applications
Chemical Industry: For aggressive acids, alkalis, and chemical dosing processes where metallic materials cannot be used.
Industrial Wastewater: Neutralization tanks, precipitation stages, and aggressive effluents with high salt and chemical concentrations.
Power Plants: Wet flue gas desulfurization (FGD) and industrial cooling circuits requiring chemical-resistant assemblies.
Refuse Incineration: Wet scrubber stages where extreme pH variations and corrosive condensates occur.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the primary difference between Cleanfit CPA473 and CPA474?
While the CPA473 uses stainless steel (1.4404 / 316L) for wetted components, the Cleanfit CPA474 features 100% polymer wetted parts (PP, PVDF, or PEEK). The CPA474 is designed specifically for aggressive acids, bases, and chemicals that would corrode stainless steel.
Can sensors be serviced while the process is running?
Yes. The retractable design allows the sensor to be moved into the rinse chamber. The ball valve then isolates the process, allowing the sensor to be cleaned, calibrated, or replaced without shutting down the process.
What process connections are available?
The CPA474 comes standard with either Flange DN50 PN16 or Flange ANSI 2" 150 lbs connections.
