Endress+Hauser Proline Prosonic Flow E 100 Ultrasonic Flowmeter

The Endress+Hauser Proline Prosonic Flow E 100 is an economical ultrasonic flowmeter designed for accurate bidirectional measurement of demineralized water. It is particularly suitable for utility applications such as boiler condensate return lines, where reliable flow measurement and long-term stability are important.

Unlike a conventional single-variable flowmeter, Prosonic Flow E 100 combines ultrasonic flow measurement with integrated temperature measurement, providing additional process information from the same measuring point. This multivariable capability can help reduce the need for separate temperature measuring instruments.

Ultrasonic Flow Measurement for Demineralized Water

Prosonic Flow E 100 uses the ultrasonic time-of-flight measuring principle. The measurement principle is independent of pressure, density, temperature and conductivity, making the instrument well suited to demineralized water applications.

The flowmeter supports bidirectional flow measurement, making it suitable for applications where flow direction can change, including utility water and boiler condensate systems.

Integrated Temperature Measurement

A key feature of Prosonic Flow E 100 is its integrated temperature measurement.

The instrument can provide:

  • Volume flow

  • Calculated mass flow

  • Flow velocity

  • Sound velocity

  • Temperature

This multivariable functionality can provide additional process information without requiring a separate temperature measurement point.

High Turndown Ratio

Prosonic Flow E 100 provides a high turndown ratio of up to 200:1, allowing reliable measurement across a wide range of flow conditions.

The measuring velocity range is:

0.025 to 5 m/s

with a maximum volume flow of approximately:

6,360 dm³/min.

This makes the instrument suitable for utility systems where flow rates can vary significantly during different operating conditions.

Measurement Accuracy

The Prosonic Flow E 100 provides volume flow accuracy of up to:

±0.5% of reading + ±0.02% of full scale

for flow velocities from 0.5 to 10 m/s, while the specified low-flow performance reaches ±0.07% of full scale for flow velocities below 0.5 m/s.

Temperature measurement can achieve accuracy according to EN 1434 Class 2, ±2.0 °C.

Designed for Utility Applications

The Prosonic Flow E 100 is particularly suitable for utility water measurement, especially demineralized water applications.

Typical applications include:

  • Boiler condensate return lines

  • Demineralized water measurement

  • Utility water systems

  • Industrial water circulation

  • Boiler utility systems

  • Water treatment systems

  • Bidirectional water flow measurement

  • General industrial utility applications

Its combination of flow and temperature measurement makes it useful for monitoring utility processes where both variables are important.

Stainless Steel Construction

The entire meter housing is designed with a stainless steel construction, providing robust mechanical protection for industrial installations.

The measuring tube uses 1.4301 (F304) stainless steel, while process connections can be configured with materials including 316L stainless steel and other connection materials depending on the selected configuration.

Wide Process Temperature Range

Prosonic Flow E 100 supports medium temperatures from:

0 to +150 °C (32 to +302 °F).

The maximum process pressure is:

PN 25 / ASME Class 150.

This makes the instrument suitable for a wide range of industrial water and utility applications.

Compact Ultrasonic Flowmeter

The Prosonic Flow E 100 is available for nominal pipe sizes from:

DN 50 to DN 150 (2" to 6").

Its compact design provides a practical solution for utility pipelines where reliable flow measurement is required without an overly complex instrumentation system.

4–20 mA HART Communication

The transmitter supports:

  • 4–20 mA HART

  • Pulse/frequency output

  • Switch output

A local 4-line backlit display is available for process value reading and monitoring, while configuration can be performed through a web browser and operating tools.

The integrated web server provides convenient commissioning and parameterization without requiring additional dedicated hardware.

Easy Commissioning and Local Monitoring

The transmitter is designed to simplify commissioning and operation.

The integrated web server allows users to access device information and configure parameters through a standard web browser. The display can provide process values and diagnostic information for local monitoring.

Heartbeat Technology

The Prosonic Flow E 100 incorporates Endress+Hauser Heartbeat Technology for integrated device verification and diagnostics.

Heartbeat Technology helps verify measurement performance and supports extended recalibration intervals, contributing to long-term measurement reliability and reduced maintenance requirements.
